One of my winter wardrobe staples is tights. They get me through the cold months looking stylish and warm. Throw on a pair of tights, and you can dress your look up, break that jeans rut you’re in, and not freeze your tush off! And the best part? Tights are an affordable accessory that a gal on any budget can afford! Here are four of my favorite tights looks with tips and tricks on how to pull off the trend:
[lace tights] [boots] [beret] [black scarf] [dress] [satchel handbag]
Whatever happened to Liv Tyler? Even though we don’t hear much about this Elvish gal anymore, her name is still splashed across fashion news from time to time. In this look, Liv has mastered the key to lace-patterned tights, which is simply don’t overdo it! She strategically breaks up monochromatic black with some textured tights. Her look isn’t fussy or overdone, and the tights add some pop to the simplicity that can be worn in the workplace.
[pleated skirt] [coat] [grey scarf] [clogs] [satchel] [red tights]
This look comes to us from some classic French street style – Oui, s’il vous plait! This très chic outfit hits on two big trends I’m loving: colorblocking and pairing pink and red. She wears a lovely pleated pink sirt with red tights. But of course you don’t want to look like a Valentine’s card at work! This fashionista evens out the bold statement with a demure grey coat and a classic black bag. (But you’re on your own if you’re interested in getting a blue fox tail for your purse
[fur scarf] [polka dot tights] [phone holder clutch] [lbd] [red coat] [pumps]
My favorite tights trend right now is definitely polka-dotted tights. They’re everywhere – and for good reason! They’re the perfect blend of sweet and sassy. Like lace tights, you’ll want to pair your polka-dotted tights with a basic, such as a black dress and classic pumps. Add some color to the ensemble with your outerwear and scarf – The Blonde Salad spices up her black look with a bright red coat and a furry scarf.
[pink handbag] [opaque tights] [floral scarf] [shorts] [blouse] [pumps]
And this post wouldn’t be complete without an appearance from Lauren Conrad, who is known to rock the shorts-with-tights outfit. The key to this look? Getting the proportions right – i.e. no tight short shorts. In this blogger’s opinion, shorts with tights looks best when the shorts are A) dressy and B) not tight. I also prefer Lauren’s choice to go solid black on the bottom, from her shorts to her pumps.
